Yes, we received the complete SDK with everyone else on the planet, so we are shaking off the dust and re-engaging the machine. We've had to see who we still have from the team on-board, as well as review where we left off at. So we hope shortly here we will have everyone moving in the same direction and a bit after that be able to share some mod goodness with you. Keep checking back. And if you are a serious level designer with some proficient past work to show us, we want to hear from you. |

I'm sure folks are wondering what's holding us up. In an effort to be fair to everyone without getting in NDA trouble, suffice it to say that we have been waiting for a while (a few months) for some critical SDK deliverables from Crytek. As much as we could, we continued development in other areas, but at this point we are pretty much dead in the water until we receive the next SDK build that can get us moving ahead again. We have not lost hope on this, but we have lost some members as we slowly glided to a standstill on development. We hope to have this sorted soon. We are not the only one of the Pre-SDK groups suffering from this right now. This will be resolved in the March-April timeframe...one way or the other. |

Hi everyone, with the holiday season now a thing of the past, we felt its time for an update on our progress, welcome to The Obsidian Edge 2 Summer Media Update! In this edition: - Round Up: We bring you up to speed with our current status
- Wanted dead or alive: We have a team vacancy, could you fill it?
- You say goodbye and I say hello: a who’s who of our new recruits
- Weevils on Tactical Strike: No we haven’t downed tools, we lift the lid on the final two gameplay modes.
- Media: This time we have some un-textured works in progress from our models team and a selection of previously unseen CryENGINETM2 images
Round UpHard to believe but I actually started writing this update in the first days after our May release… So what’s happened since then? Well hopefully I’m over the IT and ISP nightmares that have plagued me recently, but you don’t want to hear about that, I’m sure you would sooner hear more of the progress of Obsidian Edge 2? In the words of Sir Michael Cain, we have been like a duck; “Calm on the surface, but always paddling like the Dickens underneath” |

We've been working hard in the sound department, rubbing our chins and dreaming up new ways to implement sound in CryEngineTM 2. Fortunately Crysis looks to have a serious sound engine by default, totally pimped out to make Crysis sound incredible. It means we'll be able to get better results for audio than we could ever dream of on any other engine! I don't say this lightly, Sonic Valley has used several engines over the years, from smaller indie projects like early 'Torque' to more recently Hl2's Source and Unreal 3. CryEngineTM 2 looks to have the most potential for sound to date. But enough of that rear smooching, as deserved as it is.... |
